The latest edition of ‘Sovietskii Ekran’ shows the actress, Tatyana Piletskaya on the cover. Born in 1929, Piletskaya was still in films in 2009 and is currently a member of two theatre troupes in St. Petersburg.
On page 3 there is notice of the showing of Ivan the Terrible parts 1 and 2. This was the first time the Soviet government allowed the second part of the film on general release. It was made in 1946 by Eisenstein and considered too potentially subversive. For further details please see our introduction to the Avant-garde movie magazines here.
